Hello everyone!

For all of you who don’t know it yet, Cortokino is an international short film festival, organised by the department of mass media, Thakur College of Science and Commerce.

When the responsibility of organising this fest fell on us, we decided to focus on a couple of things. First, we wanted to move away from the clichéd film festivals and host only such events that are interesting and challenging for participating students and aspiring film makers. Second, we wanted to understand our calibre as a team, so that we would be able to give our best to a fest that quite obviously meant the world to us.

Cortokino, 2013 had 8 different events. Namely, the Short Film Event, Sir Chaplin Says, Documentary Event, Point of View, An Advertisement to Make, Editor’s Cut, Stop Motion and the Silent Film event. Apart from the events, we also organised  ‘Media’s Got Talent’; an event designed especially for mass media students to showcase their talents.

The two days of the fest were filled with chaos, excitement and fun! Right from the wonderful response and the amazing, raw talent that was witnessed by all to Remo D’Souza flaunting his unmatchable moves with the students! The fest was one cool affair. I think, team Cortokino did the right thing by organising a pure film festival; a platform that showered attention and encouragement on future directors, actors or editors was needed. And I feel Cortokino fulfilled this duty with aplomb.

While the winner was one, I have to say that every movie we received was of top-notch quality. The contingents out did themselves and the students simply amazed us with their talent. As the organising team, it was overwhelming to have received  love and support from various colleges within the city and outside. As a mass media student, being a part of such a fest was a holistic learning process that my fellow batch-mates and I will never forget.

I promise, we will be back next year with the same amount of zeal and love for our work and we will present all you movie junkies with just the platform you need. Till then, keep watching ’em movies.
