FMCG giant Godrej has decided to expand extensively into rural markets. Currently, one third of Godrej’s FMCG business emanates from Rural India. Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej added that rural market will be a priority and will position its products and roll out advertisement campaigns to capture a bigger share of the market.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said in rural India, the group’s growth had been very strong and consumer products business witnessing increasing sales. He also added that Godrej Agrovet has all its business in Rural India. The consumer products business is also witnessing increasing sales in this sector.
‘The Rs five packs of Godrej’s premium product, Cinthol Soap and its popular brand, No 1 had been very successful in rural markets’, he claimed.
Adi Godrej concluded by mentioning that Godrej will target to achieve more as almost two-thirds of Indian population lives in rural areas.
