Genelia D’souza, the new face of Fastrack

Genelia D’souza seems to be on endorsement signing spree these days. The latest was her association her LG mobile phones, but not until now. She has been signed by Fast Track as their new brand ambassador.

Genelia has also finished shooting a commercial for the brand. She made this announcement public through twitter, “Hey tweeps… yup I am officially the new brand ambassador of Fastrack… just done with shoot and it was fantastic….” she tweeted.

The company officials also chose to make the announcement through twitter. A post from Fastrack mentioned, “Just to make it a little more official, we’re singing it from the rooftops – Genelia is our new brand ambassador.”

Genelia appears to be the hot favourite among brands which are associated with the young generation. Though her movies have not been doing too well on the Box-Office, she surely knows how to get noticed.

Her current endorsements include Fanta, Garnier light, Cadbury Perk and LG.

John Players youth connection with Ranbir Kapoor

“The New Face of Cool is Here”, this is John Players latest campaign with their very new brand ambassador. ITC’s John Players have roped in Ranbir Kapoor, the current Bollywood sensation to endorse the clothing brand. Hrithik Roshan was earlier endorsing the brand.

John Players also intends to expand its reach by opening more stores, aiming at 300 stores from the current 225. Atul Chand, Chief Executive, ITC’s lifestyle retail business division, “John Players is a mid-priced brand. It is not a destination brand such as Wills Lifestyle and won’t make consumers travel far. We have to take the brand closer to the consumer. He should not have to make an effort to access the brand.”

On their association with Ranbir Kapoor, Chand added, “We needed a strong connection with the youth. At this leg of the brand’s journey, Ranbir personifies the changes in the youth’s attitude.”

He further clarified on Ranbir replacing Hrithik, “When we repositioned John Players, the brand needed a fashion icon like Hrithik Roshan. John Players is now ready for the next stage of moving closer to the youth.”

John Players campaigns and promotions will all be centered around the Bollywood hottie. Chand concluded, “We have lined up on-ground promotion, tying up with his films for promotions and also contests in the social media.”

Sonam Kapoor, the new face of Spice Telecom

Spice Telecom, the brand owned by Spice Communications Limited has signed the gorgeous Sonam Kapoor to introduce its latest range of cell phones. Sonam Kapoor will be endorsing the mobile handsets, retail services and value added services by Spice.

Vivek Bali, Group President, Global Branding & Marketing, Spice spoke about the association, “We are very happy to associate with a talented and versatile actress like Sonam. I am confident that our association with Sonam will establish a strong connect with our brand attributes. I welcome her to the Spice family, and look forward to a long and successful association.”

Sonam Kapoor already has international brands like L’Oreal and Mont Blanc in her kitty along with Anant Diamond Jewelry Range.

Sonam Kapoor is only two movies old, but is surely in the league for stardom and this deal surely proves that.

Abhishek Bachchan endorses Videocon D2H

Videocon has roped in Abhishek Bachchan to endorse its D2H (Direct to Home) services. Videocon is the latest entrant in D2h segment, competing with already established brands like Dish TV, Airtel Digital TV, Reliance Big TV and a few regional players.

Videocon product range would consist of satellite LCD, color television, DVDS and satellite box offering DTH services. This range offers direct service to home without a set top box. The products will have exclusive features like live preview, two tickers on screen, active games, transparent onscreen display, and information bar on screen that will give details about programs, time, date and weather. Customers will get to choose from 244 channels and services.

Speaking about the association, Anil Khera, CEO, Bharat Business Channel Ltd. (BBCL) commented, “Abhishek makes a perfect match with the Videocon d2h brand attributes of innovation and high-quality entertainment. As our brand’s face, he will be instrumental in communicating the benefits to consumers across the country. It is our privilege to be associated with an actor of his calibre and excellent standing in the entertainment industry.”

LG Electronics signs Akshay Kumar as Brand Ambassador

LG Electronics has roped in Bollywood hottie Akshay Kumar to endorse its LG Flat Panel Display (FPD) segment.

Moon B Shin, MD, LG Electronics India confirmed the news and said, “We are aiming to be no. 1 in flat panel TV market with a targeted market share of 33% in 2010. To achieve this we are coming up with whole new series of full LED LCD TV’s. Our full LED range, known as Infinia, is loaded with superior features showcasing next generation technology like 3D display, broadband TV, wireless solutions and Full LED’s. We have chosen Akshay as our brand ambassador for LG FPDs because he personifies the LG brand. He is a big style icon, gizmo and action freak”.

A 360 degree marketing campaign with Akshay will be rolled out soon. A multi-media campaign which will include print, television, radio, outdoor, cinema and the internet media, has also been planned.

The advanced version of LED (Liquid Emitting Diodes) will be launched in 2010. The company aims to sell atleast 3 lakh units by the end of this year.
